Gudrun Engström is educated as a nurse. She has been chief of mission of the Norwegian Refugee Council's operation in Burundi. She has conducted humanitarian work in numerous countries, among them Sudan, Ethiopia and Somailia when the situation was at its worst. NRC's projects are concentrated to Northern Burundi where she was responsible for self-help building schemes for returning refugees: housing, hospitals, children and women care centres, local education and sanitation. Gudrun began working in Conakry in Guninea in January 2002. She joined the TFF as adviser in 1999.
