Michael Renner is a Senior Researcher with the Worldwatch Institute, a non-profit research organization based in Washington, D.C. Before joining Worldwatch in 1987, he was a Corliss Lamont Fellow in Economic Conversion at Columbia University from 1986 to 1987 and a Research Associate at the World Policy Institute in New York City from 1984 to 1986. Renner is
the author of Fighting for Survival: Environmental Decline,
Social Conflict, and the New Age of Insecurity (W.W. Norton
& Co., October 1996), an examination of the social and
environmental stress factors that threaten to fracture
societies and lead to violent conflict. Michael
Renner joined TFF as adviser in 1997.
