Egypt's liberation - a new world
being born through non-violence

Dear friends,
Again we see that whenever freedom is won, whenever dictators are overthrown, it is when ordinary people work together without violence, saying: We do not accept the oppression, we refuse to cooperate with the dictators.
It is not armies, not weapons, it is the resistance of the common man.
So it was in Indonesia, when Suharto was peacefully overthrown, so in the Philippines, when people simply occupied the motorways. The Soviet empire was not overthrown by President Reagan and the Star Wars, it was overthrown by the people singing together in Estonia and Latvia, people praying in Leipzig, the “nurses and children” in Prague with their key rings and candles, the samizdat publishers in Russia. Gandhi proved stronger than the British Empire, Nelson Mandela stronger than all the armies.
In Tunisia and Egypt we see that young people using Twitter and Facebook are stronger than the lies of the State Television, stronger than the one and half million policemen.
Yes, she is already here, the New World. We can hear her breathing, over the Internet.
Gunnar
